Product Description
This guide discusses the "other side" of treating fibroid tumours - the side that offers preventative strategies and all your treatment options. Fibroids are the leading reason why more than half a million women a year have a hysterectomy. Sadly many women are not given any other options by their doctors even though there are safer and easier alternatives. Fibroids are benign tumours that arise from the smooth muscle layer of the uterus. As they grow they can extend their range, putting pressure on other organs and tissues. Over 50 per cent of women diagnosed with them develop symptoms terrible enough to impact on their daily lives. This book takes readers through the diagnosis and treatment of uterine fibrosis. It details what every lady requirements to know, including all the up-to-date medical treatment options as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each.
About The Author

Reader ReviewsThis is the most comprehensive book on fibroids that I have read. It explains the different types, enumerates other conditions that may be confused for fibroids, details diagnosis techniques. It then thoroughly explores each treatment option currently available--and it is up-to-date, as opposed to another book I purchased which was so out of date it didn't even mention Uterine Artery Embolization. It gives statistics on the successes and complications from each treatment, and also suggests questions to ask your doctor and qualifications he/she should have. It assumes that you are intelligent enough to make up your own mind about what treatment you want and does not "sell" one over any other. It is just so refreshing! I recommend it to anyone who is trying to get through the maze of confusing information about fibroids.
