A Personalized Approach to Feeling Better
Struggling with fibromyalgia (FMS) and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a triple challenge: Not only must you deal with pain, exhaustion, and other symptoms, but you also have to contend with health-care providers who often will not acknowledge that you're actually sick, and a confusing array of health care options. In twenty years of practice, author Lynette Bassman has seen many people with FMS and CFS. She's even struggled with CFS herself. Bassman knows that it's possible to overcome these conditions. She found the right combination of approaches to heal herself--and so can you, if you use the comprehensive information and recovery advice you'll find in this book.
Her book begins with an overview, offering a simple explanation of what is known about FMS and CFS. It then describes and evaluates most available therapies, both conventional and alternative, that can address not only physical symptoms but emotional and spiritual ones as well.. You'll assess your own symptoms and customize a treatment approach that meets your own unique symptom profile.
Finally, you'll learn how to chart a course to recovery that will help you feel better and maintain your progress.
Bassman's book is a guide which everyone can utilize when confronting a problem like fibromyalgia. The right coach will help you to combine inspiration and information, and when you do, exceptional results are to be expected. The Feel Good Guide to Fibromyalgia does it all in a style that is easy to read and utilize. --Bernie Siegel, MD author Love, Medicine, and Miracles and Love, Magic, and Mudpies
Bassman has done a fine job of explaining a complex and disabling group of conditions that are under-diagnosed and inadequately treated by mainstream medicine. The solutions she offers are broad-ranging, thorough, user-friendly, individualized, and above all, in the large majority of cases, successful! --Hyla Cass, MD, author of 8 Weeks to Vibrant Health: A Woman's Take-Charge Program

Reader ReviewsAs a health-care professional, I began having significant health problems and followed a traditional medical course of treatment. After about a year, I was getting sicker and sicker despite my doctor's reassurances that the multiple medications I was taking were working. I stopped seeing my doctor and tried several alternative therapies that eventually led me to becoming healthy again. As I read Dr. Bassman's book, I wish it had been available to me when I was doing my search. It has a wealth of information written in plain language that is extremely important in our society which emphasizes disease instead of the wellness model that Dr. Bassman presents.
