For readers who seek a straightforward guidebook on learning about the chakra system and how to keep it healthy, this is an great resource. Virtue, who is a bestselling author (Messages From Your Angels, Healing With the Angels) and clairvoyant doctor of psychology, identifies the placements and functions of these "energy centers" in the body. She then teaches readers how to keep these chakras clear and clean, leading to greater health and energy.

The chakras themselves are a gorgeous progression of shifting colors, starting with the red root chakra at the base of the spine and moving up the body, shade-by-shade, and ending with the royal purple "crown" chakra at the top of the head. Each chakra interacts with a person's issues and concerns in the world. For instance, the root chakra relates to basic survival, such as money, shelter, and material needs, according to Virtue. If a human being feels stable in this arena, the "root chakra looks like a brilliant ruby held under a spotlight," she explains. However, if people feel fearful about money or become overly obsessed with their career or possessions, this chakra will be come "dirty" and have a muddy, dark red color.

Virtue offers an extensive assortment of original, guided meditations that are effective in cleaning and clearing all the chakras. Never in my life had I felt so free from emotional pain and so completely happy for no reason. Simply by imagining colors in various sections of your body, you can achieve a sense of inner calm and clear negative energy. It sounds too good to be true until you try it. Doreen Virtue has created a healing CD to erase pain and negative thought patterns. While struggling with your thoughts can at times increase the pain, relaxing into your "power" helps you to release what is beyond your control. This is not about giving up, it is about acquiring a powerful new perspective. Once you have been released from disempowering thoughts and obsessive thoughts you can again think clearly in a healed environment. If the total liberation from suffering is enlightenment, you might very well feel enlightened after clearing your Chakras. The only aspect of this program that I was a bit tentative about was the "inviting angels into your body" to clear the charkas. This program is still effective without the help of angels. The section on "Etheric Cords" was simply fascinating and she is correct that they are like surgical tubing and you can literally feel the thickness and density of the tubing. I was amazed at how this helped me to see who I am really "attached" to emotionally. Some of the cords were so thick they were more like steel and some almost refused to be cut. You have to read chapter four in order to find the instructions. I was able to cut some cords that have been draining my energy and while it might be psychological, it works. It is a visual way to remind yourself of your commitment to not let people drain you of your energy. Doreen explores the effects of various foods and beverages that positively affect the Chakras and shows how exercise is also essential. She also explains how yoga and tai chi movements increase the flow of life-force through your charkas. After reading this book, massage, flower essences and sea salt baths take on a new meaning. I'd recommend that you listen to the CD before reading the book. Not only because some of the information will then make more sense and you will be pretty amazed by a few aspects of the Chakra clearing session.
