Beginning her tenure in the field of education in 1968, she has found many ways to enrich the educational experiences of children. She taught upper elementary grades, junior high mathematics, English and history, gifted programs for grades 1 through 8, and education classes at the university level.
Ms. Draze founded Dandy Lion Publications in 1977, creating a publishing house that specialized in curriculum materials that were appropriate for able learners and gifted students, that combined motivating content with challenging activities, and that were easy for teachers to use. In the capacity of owner and editor, she wrote over 50 books and edited an additional 119 books. Ms. Draze has retired from full-time involvement in Dandy Lion Publications and currently consults, writes and edits on a part-time basis.
Reader ReviewsPrefixes, roots and suffixes-linguistic building blocks that are fairly nonfunctional by themselves, but string them together and you get a wonderful array of words that make up the English language. By gaining a familiarity with these building blocks, it becomes easy to unlock the meanings of thousands of words. The lessons in Red Hot Root Words are perfect to introduce the most frequently-used prefixes, roots and suffixes. This clear, straightforward presentation will not only introduce new vocabulary, but will also develop skills for understanding the meanings of many common English words. This book is very useful in teaching both prefixes, suffixes and root words, while also teaching new vocabulary. It is also fun, and not all busy work, so children will not get bored of it. It is definitely worth buying!
