Reader ReviewsBy necessity, the book is large. It covers almost anything you could want to know about web design and as a novice designer, I've found it a very useful companion and a fascinating read. It covers everything from the history of the internet and basic HTML to embedding videos in your site and using Javascript. The book contains helpful descriptions of useful programs (both commercially available and free/shareware) and some very astute advice that has clearly been overlooked even by sites as successful as Amazon.com! However, there are a few drawbacks to the book. Even though it has been recently published, the ever-changing world of the web has rendered aspects of the book redundant while leaving out topics such as Google Chrome's browser and Google Adsense. No doubt these will be included in a later edition. In addition, although the index is fairly extensive, I have found difficulties locating precisely the information I need in the book. Having said that, much of the information you will need is contained in these pages - it's just that you might have to go hunting for it. In spite of these issues, I'd highly recommend this book to anyone interested in building a web site. It is a very good starting point to get the information you need.
