Reader Reviews
When was the last time you read something so riveting, tears rolled down your face, leaving you to feel tranquility like you had been washed in the blood of Jesus? Before reading Watercolored Pearls by Stacy Hawkins Adams, I could truly say I do not recall ever having this experience, and if I did...I do not remember it. This I do know, I will remember. Three friends, going through their own trials and tribulations, get a revelation from a woman of great wisdom, who received her wisdom from another woman. How often can we say that we have been inclined to reach out and touch someone else's life and make a difference? Serena McDainels, a stay-at-home mother of two year-old twin boys, is a minister's wife. She and her husband, Micah, had to make some changes when he was let go from being the minister of one of the up-and-coming churches in Richmond, Virginia. Though she is a woman of God, Serena fights with her own internal demons. What lesson will she learn when she leaves that weekend? Ericka Tyler Wilson, a mother and interior designer, stands at the crossroad where old love and new love are the signs marking the road. Trying to decide which way to go, she turns to reading the Bible and praying. But in order to get the answers to her prayers, she has to be willing to listen. What words would be said to her that weekend, which would lead her in the path chosen for her? Tawana Carter, a young mother and student at Harvard law school, pushes herself to get ahead, but in the wrong ways. When she is offered the chance to intern at a topnotch law firm in Richmond for the summer, she lets one night affect how she thinks of herself. Finally, her past has caught up with her. She has to decide what to do, continue to run from her past or stand up and face it. What does she take away from that weekend with friends? The Lord places angels in our lives as he sees fit. It may not be when we want it but He is always on time. Stacy Hawkins Adams poured her heart and soul into this book. I have not read any of her other works, but that did not stop me from picking up this one. This book did not miss a beat, and it had me crying and touched my heart to the core. I recommend Watercolored Pearls to everyone, whether you enjoy Christian fiction or not. There is a life lesson that you will learn while reading it. Jennifer Coissiere APOOO BookClub
