Product Description
The book is the complete introduction and applications guide to this new technology. This book introduces the reader to features and gives an overview of geometric modeling techniques, discusses the conceptual development of features as modeling entities, illustrates the use of features for a variety of engineering design applications, and develops a set of broad functional requirements and addresses high level design issues.
Publisher Description
Designed to make it easy to find, understand and use cutting edge techniques in parametric and feature based CAD/CAM. The authors provide comprehensive coverage of all topics related to features--from fundamental concepts to applications. They include numerous specific techniques, algorithms, data structures plus a program code which implementers will find useful. Reviews basic principles of CAD/CAM such as curve, surface and solid modeling. Explains how to automate geometric reasoning related to design, product performance evaluation, manufacturability and inspection.
Reader ReviewsThis is a beautifully organised book, taking you through CAD/CAM methodology. Importance of features in modelling practice has come out very well. However, the concepts of parametric, variational and hibrid modeling techniques could be made more elaborate and lucid. The mathematics dealt in this book also could be retouched. All these limitations aside, this is a class book. Ideal for university students and the guys getting into CAD/CAM development.
