*Exclusive "Exam Watch" features point out the most frequently missed questionsand how to answer them correctly
*Answers provide in-depth explanations--and show why the incorrect choices are wrong, as shown below:
A server running Windows NT 4.0 operating system has developed a security problem. When you check the system information, you find that it is running with Service Pack 1, which was included with the OS release. You check with your supervisor, who gives you several CD-ROMs that contain different service packs. Which one should you install?
A. Service Pack 2, since it follows Service Pack 1, which is already installed
B. Service Pack 4, since this pack is known to address some security issues
C. The latest service pack, since it contains all previous service packs
D. Install all service packs one by one.
C. The latest service pack, since it contains all previous service packs. The latest service pack typically contains all the previous service packs. For example, Service Pack 7 for Windows NT 4.0 contains all
software that was contained in Service Pack 1 through Service Pack 6; Service Pack 6 contains all the
software contained in Service Pack 1 through Service Pack 5.
A is incorrect because you should choose the latest service pack.
B is incorrect because if a later service pack is available, a previous service pack should not be installed.
D is incorrect because you need to install only the latest service pack, since it contains all previous service packs.
Reader ReviewsThe publisher does not hide the fact that this book is just a batch of sample questions and answers related to the Server+ exam. This book might be useful if you've been in the field and have done a lot of work on servers and you want to test you knowledge. However, it is of little use for novices who are trying to learn material for the Server+ exam. The biggest problem with this book is that the CompTIA Server+ exam objectives are not even present in the book. Also watch out for the Exam Watch notes, a high percentage of them are totally wrong. For example: The Exam Watch note that states that only RAID 1 and RAID 5 are fault tolerant (page 25). In fact, RAID 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are all fault tolerant. The book also lacks an index, which makes it difficult to find sample questions on a particular subject.
