For this objective it's a great book, but if you're trying to find a general book about portlets programming I don't recommend you this book. This book give you a good idea of portlets developing using WebSphere Portal services, but I think that have weakness in facts as portal themes, the services that you could use in your portlets such as Puma or Credential Vault and a reference of integration with Web Content items.
