Product Description
A Way of Being was written in the early 1980s, near the end of Carl Rogers's career, and serves as a coda to his classic On Becoming a Person. More personal and philosophical than his earlier writings, it traces his professional and personal development and ends with a person-centered prophecy, in which he predicts a future changing in the direction of more humaneness. Now, fifteen years later, the psychiatrist and best-selling author Dr. Irvin Yalom revisits A Way of Being, offering a contemporary view of this remarkable work.
About The Author
Carl Rogers(1902-1987) was one of the most influential psychologists in American history. He received many honors, including the first Distinguished Professsional Contributor Award and the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award of the American Psychological Association.
Reader Reviews
This is a wonderful read for people who are interested in understanding dialogical relationship. It will not only benefit people working in the field of counselling/psychotherapy but will be enlightening to anyone interested in meeting the other with genuine interest and respect. Rogers highlights an attitude towards one's self and to others, not techniques to be pulled out of a hat and in essence decribes a way of being - a lived experience rather than doing something to someone.
