This book contains information on forensic radiology obtained from authentic and highly respected sources, presented by different authors. Essentials are described and additional details are pointed out. The reader is not only amazed at the amount of material but also fascinated by the masterly way it is presented. The book summarizes the knowledge and experience of various authors acquired over more than thirty years. The editor and main author is a master of the anecdote, which is a great help in making the point and catching the reader's attention with a minimum of effort. I recommend the book to all those not only already working in or simply interested in forensic radiology, but also those working in an environment prone to forensic radiology problems. This recommendation extends to the expert, who will find new aspects and new approaches. The book is a must for any library that covers forensic medicine and/or diagnostic radiology.

Throughout the text, there are unusual words which sent me to the dictionary - 'benison', 'amanuensis', 'eidolon' - all are used in a perfectly correct grammatical sense. Seldom have I derived more pleasure in reviewing a book. This work should be available to all involved in forensic sciences, and especially to all of us principally concerned with forensic autopsies.

Product Description
The scope of applications of forensic radiology includes determination of identity, evaluation of injury and death, use in criminal and civil litigation, in administrative proceedings such as workman's compensation hearings, in medical education, and in research. Until now, there has been no single source of radiologic knowledge for various disciplines to turn to when looking at X-rays or other radiologic records as forensic evidence. This is the first book to cover the entire spectrum of radiological applications in forensic science. Discover how forensic radiology can be used to: o Identify remains and determine issues such as animal vs. human remains; whether one or more bodies are involved; and the age, sex, and stature of remains o Evaluate causes of death and whether it was accidental, homicidal, or self-inflicted o Establish evidence in both criminal and non-criminal proceedings o Analyze bite marks to identify perpetrators o Detect fakes and forgeries in art works o Determine whether child, spousal, or geriatric abuse is occurring o And much more Copiously illustrated with more than 640 pictures, Forensic Radiology is a visual guide and standard reference not only for radiologists, but for everyone involved in the field of forensics-from anthropologists to trial lawyers. This extremely readable text requires no background of medical training to understand, yet is detailed enough to inform physicians and dentists interested in this specialty field.
