There is no fluff here, just nuts and bolts facts on where to contact employers for this special hiring sector. I'm an employer (project manager), an employee, and a mentor to other professionals entering the field. I tell people to contact these companies, not to waste time looking in the papers or on job boards. The 'IT Staffing Firms' book (blue-green)lists staffing firms that hire -- these are firms that hire, and don't do work for the customer. The 'IT Services Firms' books by geographic region (gold) list IT services providers that hire, place and work with the client employer. I keep both these books close by. I've networked with companies and people from them. They have company names, telephone numbers, recruiter-placement contact names, emails and website addresses.
