Book Description
This IDC study looks at the demand for high-availability servers as a subset of the overall server market. A worldwide and U.S. forecast from 2002 to 2008 is provided, along with segmentations by operating environment (including Unix, Windows, Linux, and "other"), chip type (including RISC, x86, and EPIC), and IDC availability level for AL2-AL4. Vendor profiles present a brief summary of each vendor's high-availability offerings.
"Spending for high-availability solutions continues to increase faster than the server market as a whole," said Steve Josselyn, research director with IDC's Global Enterprise Server Solutions team. "With the increasing number of applications that depend on the underlying computing infrastructure to deliver critical components of business service, we expect this trend to remain in effect for the long term."
