Grade 4-9-- A book that is designed to introduce students to the concept of computer graphics. While it does accomplish that purpose, much of the language and the technical explanations will prove meaningless to the intended audience. The terms are not well defined, and explanations are not clear. The book begins with a brief history of computer graphics and technical descriptions of how the graphics are produced on computer screens. Next, Kettelkamp presents detailed explanations of how the graphics are actually produced, starting with the keyboard, moving to the use of a mouse, continuing with scanners, and ending with a discussion of various printers. The majority of the book deals with short examples of how computer graphics are used in everyday life, animation, and video games. A book that will appeal to a very limited audience. --Joanne Troutner, Tippecanoe School Corp., Lafayette, IN
