Reader ReviewsBeing from 2002 this book is showing its age especially in discussions of firewall and server security issues. If you're just getting into the field, I would recommend finding an update reference. That said, if you can pick this book up cheaply and have no background in the field - it'll work for you. The book provides a fairly good groundwork of basic security concepts, risks, and terminology. Experienced users will want to look elsewhere, but for beginners wanting to get a grasp on the field this is just right.
