Product Review
Authors Tim McEachern and Bob O'Keefe describe
Re-Wiring Business: Uniting Management and the Web as "an exploration of the business advantage that can be gained from the Web." The advantage they speak of will come from connecting employees to as many other people and as much information as possible, both inside and outside the organization. The best chapters in this regard are the ones on intranets, marketing, public relations, retailing and business-to-business connections, and their strength comes from anecdotes, some of which are drawn from the authors' consulting practice. The book's principal drawback is that it is not written for a clearly defined audience. Although it is described as being for managers in general and about strategy rather than technology, many technical terms, such as agents, data warehouse, thin client, RealAudio, T3, object-oriented, C, Java and URL, appear with little or no explanation. --
