About The Author
Greg Ramsey, a
Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for SMS, has been working with SMS and desktop deployment since 1998. He currently works for Dell, Inc., in Austin, Texas, as an SMS administrator. He has extensive knowledge in VBScript, WMI, ADSI, SMS Installer, Wise Package Studio, and VB .NET. Prior to 1998, he was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer sciences and engineering (BSCSE) from The Ohio State University. Greg is a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and he is a columnist for myITforum.com. He is also cofounder of the Ohio SMS Users Group and the creator of SMSView .
Warren Byle is a
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and has been working with SMS for the last seven years. He works at Grange Insurance in Columbus, Ohio, as an SMS engineer. He is cofounder of the Ohio SMS Users Group and serves as chairman.
Reader ReviewsAll I can say is "Wow". Excellent approach to everything SMS. I like the concept, the problem/solution format, the "discussion" sections that will help a newbie understand why they might want or need that function, and the references directing the reader to additional resources. Obviously, I haven't read it cover to cover (it's hard to read vbscript verbatim unless you really need to...), but just browsing through it I'm totally impressed. When I get questions from techs in the company I support, or threads on discussion boards, I'll probably be replying... "did you check out chapter x, section y in SMS2003 Recipes yet? The solution is right there... I'm going to keep this copy at home; and make work buy a copy for me to keep at my desk!
