Product Review
A deep understanding of what makes distributed systems architecture different from monolithic systems architecture is critically important in a networked world of services such as that promised by Service Oriented Architecture, and Puder, Römer and Pilhofer deliver that deep understanding in a straightforward, step-by-step fashion, from the inside out-as simple as possible, but not simpler. Every application developer today is a distributed systems developer, and this book therefore belongs on the bookshelf of every developer, architect and development manager. -Richard Mark Soley, Ph.D., chairman and CEO, Object Management Group, Inc.
Book Description
This guide to building robust middleware includes a complete open source CORBA system
Reader ReviewsThe book is very good. It provides a good high level background of the common approaches for middleware integration. Very easy to use and follow, and to find information. Also well written for someone not familiar with the topic to jump directly to a specific section. It covers concepts of distributed systems, the object model, middleware, CORBA, uORB, object adapters, IDL, XML, WSDL, SOAP, UDDI. It is not an in-depth book in any of these, but provides a very good overview, and solid concept and foundation of all of those areas. Does contain some sample code to illustrate points discussed. Highly recommended for a quick overview of the technical concepts involved in distributed systems
