Product Description
Millions of people buy and sell almost anything on eBay, making the auction giant a huge success story. But behind all the glitter is a seedy back alley where shady characters lurk. For the first time in print, here are true stories of outrageous rip-offs, slick scams, and assorted chicanery eBay doesn't want you to know about. Think you will not get bamboozled? Read this book and think again!
Reader ReviewsI'm the illustrator for the book and when they authors first approached me I though "A whole book? Is it really that bad out there?" The short answer is yes. The personal stories of fraud, revenge, miscommunications and outright weirdness are a good primer for education yourself about the possible pitfalls of online transactions. The book's style is tongue in cheek and it's a fun breezy read. From a purely morbid point, reading the stories is like watching a train wreck in slow motion...without the death and destruction part. I'm a huge fan of "people history" and "memoir" type books so this naturally appeals to me. If you are looking for a technical expose on online fraud from an engineering point of view, this is NOT the right book. However if you like to read what people like yourself are experiencing from a layperson's point of view, you will probably find it a worthwhile purchase.
