Book Description
Kelly Povo, photographer and artist, creator of Kelly Cards and other inspiring products for women has once again teamed up with Phyllis Root, an award-winning writer with a pointed and gentle sense of humor, to create Hot Flash Gal! The women of a certain age in Kellys hand-colored set-up shots are riding Harleys, shoveling snow in their swimsuits, and having a blast together as they negotiate the pitfalls, pratfalls, and benefits of menopause.
Its increasingly apparent to millions of women that "that time of life" is their time of life to shine. Any lady whos a bit slow on the uptake-i.e. she hasnt figured out the benefits of menopause-is sure to be won over by this lighthearted look.
"Do you need more than a little help from your friends? Is your girlish figure harder to find? Have your heating bills plummeted? Congratulations! Youre a genuine HOT FLASH GAL!"
Hot Flash Gal may not leap buildings with a single bound, but she does appreciate the everyday stuff-family, friends, and doing what you want.
About The Author
Kelly Povo is an award-winning photographer, whose hand-colored images of women in various compromising and uncompromising positions have appeared on cards, posters, galleries and museums, and in her books. She also has her own greeting card line, Kelly Cards, which features pictures of all of her friends dressed up and ready to go! Her images have been used as book covers, in calendars, and in magazine articles. Povo lives in Minnesota with her two daughters, four cats, and a dog.
Phyllis Root is an award-winning children's book author and co-conspirator with Kelly on these books and numerous other projects. She grew up in Indiana and now lives in Minnesota with her children, cats, and sometimes butterflies.
Reader ReviewsIf you are in the piercing claws of the dreaded life-change clutches (or know somebody who is) this book is a respite. You will more than identify with the perky prose, and the photographs simply demand that your sense of humor stays in-tact -- even if your perm won't. If you are peri-menopausal, this colorful tome will give a "perspiratorial" primer to what lies in wait. (Aka: You get to laugh before you cry -- uncontrollably, of course.)
