Reader Reviews
This review is from: Just Enough UNIX (Paperback)
Not a flashy book at all. The unix Andersen gives you is largely the traditional workhorse version, text-based. Because that is still the focus of many unix users. Though the book has a discussion of CDE - Common Desktop Environment. But you should use that only to get to a terminal emulator. Within which, you are shown the power of many useful unix commands. Take care to understand a key idea. Many unix commands are modular, letting you pipe output from one to the input of another. Which is why shell scripting has proved so easy and popular.
