Book Description
The results of 25 years of social research and revelation are now available in the publication "Positive African American Men-United" bu Sidney Wingfield, M.S.S.W.
This powerful, poignant publication covers the gamut of a total master plan for uniting the African American culture and bringing on a cultural revolution that will establish the One Code of Honor for Men.
For the first time a standardized, objective definition of manhood for men and women is placed in the framework of a Code of Honor.
For teaching purpose, this code is broken down by age and translated into a symbolic form called "The Star of Man" designed simple enough for a two-year-old child to begin learning positive values and developing positive character.
The publication explains how the Master Plan of Action for African American People works. It also provides insight on the organization--Positive African American-United, Inc., while addressing the African American woman's role, the role of the church and the community in the revolutionary process. Readers will be enlightened, enhanced, informed and empowered as Wingfield creates a blueprint and vision for a 21st century African American culture grounded in old values of responsibility for honoring, respecting, and protecting women, children, and elders through love, commitmemt, guidance, time and support.
About The Author
Sidney Wingfield was born in Chicago, Illinois, May 21, 1946 and separated from his mother and biological family at birth. Sidney grew up in the foster home of William and Sarah Bass on Chicago's south side community, Morgan Park.
When he was 11 years old his foster father died, and he assumed responsibility for this foster mother. Sidney's foster mother became an invalid by the time he reached age 14, and she fought off death until one month after his graduation at age 17 1/2.
Sidney was drafted in the United States Army at age 19, during the Vietnam conflict. He served two years and was honorably discharged in 1968.
Sidney has been a student and teacher of world religions, behavioral sciences, cultural anthropology, philosophy, theology, and metaphysics for over twenty years. He is a certified Master Social Worker, and for the past ten years has worked in a range of positions with the Nashville Juvenile Court System, currently as a Probation Officer. He has counseled and worked in the areas of chemical dependency, juvenile delinquency, foster care, child protective services, child advocacy, geriatrics, community and family social work.
Sidney's academic background is a Bachelor of Arts degree from Scarritt College for Christian Workers, with a dual concentration in Behavioral Sciences and World Religions, and a Master of Science in Social Work degree, earned at the University of Tennessee at Nashville. Sidney feels any success he has had is due to the blessing of God and the efforts of foster parents, teachers, community center staff, ministers, policemen, drill sergeants, and other helping professionals.
