Product Review
"Margaret Derry has interwoven passing developments with regional and national concerns. This admirable chronicle of northern Georgian Bay is the first to be so thorough and is unlikely to be surpassed. the author's exceptional depth of research, thoghtful consideration of opposing forces at work, and clarity of writing provide a landmark history." --James P. Barry, author of Georgian Bay: The Sixth Great Lake, among others.
"A more nuanced and lushly packaged treatment of the region than anything else that has come before" Manitoulin Expositor. "This book is very pretty. It is also a good read about the economic, social and cultural history of the area that has so much adventure, interesting characters and anecdotes, it would be worth the price even without the illustrations and photos." --Northern Life
"Georgian Bay Jewel is equal parts visulal journey and geographic narrative. It will provide anyone who has visited the area, or plans to do so, with a deeper appreciaition and understanding of the natural and societal landscape that makes Georgian Bay a Canadian tresure." --The Beaver: Canada's History Magazine

Reader Reviews
Margaret E Derry, a 4th generation local has done a tremendous service to the Georgian Bay area by writing "Killarney" A historian by education, she has applied tremendous study and insight into the Killarney and Georgian Bay Area. From rocks and first nation peoples, to fisherman and steamships, she has given a vivid picture of an area of North America that few know about, but many appreciate. The book ia a wonderful keepsake and historical guide to one of my favorite places in the world. Capt Mc
