Highly Recommended Book! The writing is vivid in its historical descriptions of women's movements against two administrations - Allende and Pinochet. On top of this, the book gives enough of the background information that makes it comprehensive to Chile's history during those two periods. Unlike traditional historical accounts where they load up on theory and miss the historical, Professor Baldez does not color the evidence behind a sociological theory, but just reports narratives and conditions that lead to the development of social unrest and demand for change. I would highly recommend the book for anyone doing research over women's involved in Chile or social movement's formation.
