    From School Library Journal
Grade 3-6 Few sports have as complex rules or as many chances for officials to make mistakes as professional football. Each chapter in this book covers the events leading up to a controversial call by N.F.L. officials in ten crucial games. In some cases, the controversy arose because of mistakes made by the officials; in others, the officials were correct but the rules unusual or seemingly unfair; and, in a few examples, there are still arguments as to what the correct call should have been. This is an interesting angle for a sports book. Readers are reminded that the rules are the groundwork for any game, but that the interpretation of those rules is often difficult. The writing is adequate; it is clear and easy to read, but never rises above sports reporting cliches. The black-and-white action photographs add some excitement, however. Young football fans should find this an enjoyable look at the game through an unusual and important approach. Todd Morning, Schaumburg Township Public Library, Ill.
