If you already knew that the Germans used foriegn equipment in the Second World War then you already know the contents of this book. While there are some interesting statistics or comments at various points it is not worth the money. Most of the book is spent providing generalized overviews of various campaigns that you can find anywhere. Most of the foreign equipment referenced are the tanks and self-propelled guns based upon the Czech light tank chasis, of which any student of the Second World War is already painfully aware. Despite the subtitle, "Germany's Foreign Armor in Action, 1939-45", there is little action. The author makes only the poorest of attempts at showing how foreign tanks were used. There is little effort to show how the tanks were incorporated into German service, other than to say they were assigned to such-and-such unit. How were the tanks refurbished for German use? The author makes virtually noon this other than to mention various well-known conversions to self-propelled guns. There is no mention of Germans modifying Soviet tanks with new optics and tank commander cupolas, for example. Tiger battalions, which were not equipped with armored recovery vehicles for the most part, converted captured Shermans for this purpose but of this there is no mention. The author spends more time on Skorzeny's 150th Panzer Brigade in the Battle of the Bulge than on anything else, which is a poor example--Panthers modifed to (barely) resemble American M-10's receive most of the attention. If you absolutely have to have this book try to find it used or wait for paperback.
