Product Review
"I have rarely been so inspired to begin the golf season, with a renewed empahsis on practice, especially on the short game." --Fritz Schranck, The Cape Gazette
Product Description
"Want to improve quickly? Read this book. It's good 'fore' you." - Todd Hamilton, 2004 British Open Champion. "Make Your Golf Dream A Reality illustrates basic golf basics in an easy-to-understand format that's simple to try out on your own. I believe the book provides the basics that can help all levels of golfers. Remember, even tour pros work on these basics when they practice." - Fred Funk, 7-time PGA Tour winner. Most mid and high-handicap golfers mistakenly believe that a perfect swing is the only key to golf success. "Make Your Golf Dream A Reality" cuts through this illusion and shows golfers how to achieve lower scores with the swing they already possess. The book identifies typical high-handicapper mistakes and provides a step-by-step system for overcoming these score-killing faults. This system of "smart" golf immediately leads to better scoring without the struggle and confusion of a major swing transformation. Readers learn to pinpoint and correct individual playing weaknesses instead of mindlessly hitting balls on the range and calling it practice. The book walks the reader through accurate game analysis and offers explicit shot-saving remedies that can produce lower scores NOW - not next month, or next year. It is particularly valuable to golfers with limited time for practice. A few hours of serious dedication to the principles in this book can reduce frustration and put the golfer on a steady road to better scoring and a lower handicap. A couple of seasons can produce a 70's shooter and single-digit handicapper. You'll find in these pages a wealth of practical ideas you can use to immediately start improving your golf scores. Unlike books that concentrate on how to swing a golf club, this book is about looking at your game and getting the most out of the assets you already possess.
Reader Reviews
I've just finished reading this book, and I found it to be interesting and also very different from any golf book I've ever read. After reading the introduction, I suddenly began to feel like I'd be shooting 79 someday before long. The book has only one chapter on long game shots, but what a chapter! The dozen or so suggestions for solid ball striking all make perfect sense, and I haven't been doing any of them. The rest of the book is about ways to shoot lower scores without having to spend all your time on the range working on the swing. It points out the common and stupid course management mistakes of high handicappers and recommends a calmer, more conservative playing style, aimed at cutting back on the blowup holes. The chapter about how to control distance inside 100 yards probably is what I need more than anything else. At the back of the book there's a handicap test you can take to find and correct your own weaknesses, along with a list of things to think about and do before you get to the first tee box. The whole book is well put together, and it made me feel positive about the possibilities of getting good at golf. The book claims that to become a single-digit handicapper you have to spend only five hours a month on your game, but you have to spend those hours wisely. As I read, I felt like the author was in my living room, talking to me like an old friend, and I really believe the methods are going to work. I enjoyed reading it, and as a higher handicapper, I give it five stars just for making me look at my golf game in such a new and hopeful way. The price is right and even if you don't do what it says, it's a very entertaining read. Howard Nelson
