Product Description
From the moment Dr. John McMullen brought professional hockey to New Jersey, the Garden State has been in love with its New Jersey Devils. Devils goaltending legend Chico Resch brings readers along for a wild rider from the lean early seasons to the three Stanley Cups. It's all here - John MacLean's game winner against Chicago, the goal that propelled the Devils into the playoffs for the first time; Ken Daneyko's emotional curtain call in Game 7 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals; and Martin Brodeur's playoff dominance year after year. The book explains why teammates shoved a shaving-cream pie in defenseman Colin White's face during a practice, why Garry Howatt served as official linesman while he was still on the Devil's roster, and why Kirk Muller received a phony subpoena when he was a little late paying for auto body work.
About The Author
Glenn "Chico" Resch is one of only two goaltenders in NHL history to successfully lead his team back from a 3-0 series deficit in the Stanley Cup playoffs. He played professional hockey for 14 seasons, including four memorable years with the New Jersey Devils. For the past eight seasons he has served as the color commentator for Devils television broadcasts. Resch and his wife Diane live in Emily, Minnesota, during the off-season.
Mike Kerwick has written for the Asbury Park Press since 1997 and has covered hockey for the paper since 2002. A 1999 graduate of Boston University, he has contributed work to USA Today, The Boston Globe and The Detroit News. In 2002 his writing was honored with firstplace awards from the New Jersey Press Association and the Society of Professional Journalists. Tales from the Devils Ice is his first book. He lives in Hoboken, New Jersey, where he can usually be found running along the Hudson River.
