Product Review
"Bruce Dowbiggin has written a book with the perfect flex and loft ? a goal scorer's book. Early on in The Stick he says these tools of the national trade are 'as Canadian as maple syrup and the call of the loon.' Let me add the canoe, shoveling snow, saying ?eh? and watching Hockey Night In Canada. A book as much about the country as about the game.? ?Roy MacGregor
"Bruce Dowbiggin is one of the great hockey chroniclers of our time." ?David Adams Richards
"Smart, quirky, well-written, and full of surprises Dowbiggin is one of hockey's most perceptive witnesses." ?Globe and Mail -- Review

Reader Reviews
This review is from: The Stick: A history, a celebration, an elegy (Paperback)
An excellent book on the history and evolution of the hockey stick. From tree trunks and roots to graphite and composites. Includes some interesting stories along the way. The many companies, countries, and individuals who have entered this odd and (suprisingly) profitable industry is also quite interesting. The book is well written, and does not bore. It is not just a quaint nostalgic look back at the old days, like i feared it would be. An excellent read.
