Beauchamp also discusses the contributions of adventurers and explorers such as Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama, and Ferdinand Magellan, and nation-builders Lord Robert Clive and President Thomas Jefferson.

William H. Beauchamp, a retired Army officer, engineer, and university lecturer, resides in Hawaii. He holds an ScB from Brown University, an MBA from Pepperdine University, and an EdD from the University of Southern California.
