The only book by Arthur Schlesinger that I have read is his book about Robert Kennedy (Robert Kennedy and His Times). Now THAT book was good. Why? I suppose I did not know much about RFK and I was thoroughy intrigued by what I read. However, I have read many more books about JFK and, as a result, I was expecting pretty much similar stuff that I had already read about JFK. Unfortunately, Schlesinger's book was quite a bore. He went on and on about his legacy - information that I really did not care for. For example, he wrote lots of information about his Latin American policies, his policies with respect to diversity and the third world, how he handled getting rid of certain member of his cabinet, and on and on. The only interesting parts of the book were the topics about Berlin, Viet Nam, and the Cuban missle crises. The rest was a bore. This book covers his political agendas and how he handled them. It's got nothing to do about JFK's womanizing, Frank Sinatra, the mob, or JFK's dad. If that is what you are interested in, forget this book!
