This book covers the history of Russia from earliest history, through the problems of the early Soviet Union, the book having been written in 1958. This book is written in a somewhat dry and academic style, which makes it a somewhat slow read, and its paucity of maps is somewhat frustrating. However, this book is comprehensive in its reach, and is very informative on pre-Soviet Russia.
