Reader Reviews
I was recently cast in a Production of "The Odd Couple" as one of the British Pigeon Sisters, and was referred to this media to learn the accent. The most important technique this program teaches (in my opinion), is how manage the inner cavity of your mouth while speaking (by holding your lips and tongue in a specific manner) to produce resonance of sounds a certain way. This alone creates the basic sound of the accent - without changing anything else about the pronunication of words. The lessons do go into depth about proper vowel pronounciations and all the exceptions, but the basic mouth-positioning technique was vital to success - and I would have never thought of that on my own. While some of the excercises are tedious (and may at first seem a bit silly) practicing them allowed me to sound very British for the production. It was very interesting to learn all the mistakes Americans typically make when trying to affect a British Accent. Using this program, I was able to avoid them.
