Reader ReviewsThis book has been updated since it's first writing, but still contains many many errors. Hunter covers the material well, and provides a good overview of LA. In general, its a good read and a good attempt at practical, down the earth info for actors. In a world of only marginally helpful books, this one is better than most. BUT don't use the specifics given (prices, phone numbers, names of people, etc) since many are outdated. My biggest concern was that the author often talks about things being "illegal" when they in fact, are not. They are simply not within UNION rules for the industry. Illegal and against union policy are not the same thing! Most of my major issues fell within the section on child actors. The vast majority of this information was just plain incorrect. Although she references current topics such as the Coogan Law, the information she gives is misleading...again, applying California rules (the Coogan does not exist anywhere but in California) and union policies with fact. If you are a child actor or parent, beware of this section! Also, the book often references a web site with resources you can purchase from her (one long commercial--yuck)and yet the web site is not up and running. A
