YA This well-organized, accurate book is not intended for beginning actors. After an introductory chapter which defines and discusses style, Novak explains the major styles of acting by historical period using representative scenes from each era. The scenes are from the best dramatic literature each period has to offer. One feature that will be very useful to drama teachers and students is the supplemental reading list at the end of each chapter which cites leading authorities on that particular period.
