Product Description
Many writing how-to books urge readers to "let your imagination run wild," "think about how you would feel if . . .," or "visualize a scene where . . .." Easier read than done.
Writing Is Acting takes a different approach, with a hands on, acting-based strategy that walks you step-by-step through the creative process, revealing new ways of communicating with your inner self, unlocking your imagination, and ratcheting up the power of your prose.
In
Writing Is Acting Bobbi JG Weiss lets the vigor, passion, and raw guts of the acting profession supercharge your onpage performance. With her unique utility kit of Tools, Techniques and Tricks inspired by the actor's craft, she shows you how to:
- train your imagination to work when and how you want it to
- build rounded, realistic characters through intensive self-exploration
- analyze the elements of effective language down to the letter
- sharpen your own perceptions to create powerful prose
- truly immerse yourself in the process of onpage creation without fear
If traditional writing advice has gotten you started but left you unsure of what to do next,
Writing Is Acting will show you the way as only an actor can - by doing. Whether you're a novice seeking your first publication or a professional looking to energize your craft, you'll never look at writing the same way again.
About The Author
Bobbi JG Weiss earned a BA in acting only to have the writing bug overwhelm her after college. Along with her husband and writing partner, David Cody Weiss, she has written over fifty books, 150 comic books, ten computer games, twenty-five animations, and too many other licensed projects to count for The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros., Paramount Studios, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, DC Comics, Vivendi Universal, and many others. She lives near Los Angeles.
Reader ReviewsI can't recommend this book highly enough for writers. It's interactive without being tedious. This helped me through a period of "writer's block" and my characters have taken on all new dimensions.
