'Longworth's book is an outstanding one This one is especially valuable to read when you come from the technological side of educational technology and want to complete your knowledge with some background in the field of education.' Christoph Richter & Heidrun Allert, BJET
Product Description
Since the concept of lifelong learning came to prominence much great work has been undertaken but, as Professor Longworth's new book shows, major change in some areas is still needed if the concept of learning from cradle to grave is to become a true reality. Using his unique vantage point from consulting with schools, universities, local, governmental and global authorities, Professor Longworth brings the development of lifelong learning bang up-to-date with a complete survey of the principles of lifelong learning including examples from around the world and crucial information on the impact of lifelong learning on 21st century schools.
Reader ReviewsWhat a dynamic vision of education! As an educator of adults who must remain committed to staying current in their field (healthcare), I found this book to be a wholly worthwhile read. Longworth, himself an avid lifelong learner, delivers to the reader a comprehensive view of the concept of lifelong learning and its critical implications for learning and living in the 21st Century. Although at times it's textually dry, one continues to read because the ideas are hugely insightful and compelling. Tapping into his own leadership, vision and vast practice-based experience in the lifelong learning community, he does a masterful job of exploring the meaning of cradle-to-grave learning and it's potential impact on individuals, communities, governments and world relations. Real life examples and concise goals for education are given along with specific actions to implement change. The reader can take the ideas found in this book and actually envision them at work in their own field. I will recommend this book to others who teach that it might broaden their perspective and inspire their approach to learning.
