Product Description
This book advises the aquarium hobbyist on how to create an underwater plant paradise. Besides adding beauty to any tank, properly selected and cultivated aquarium plants are functional. They provide shelters and hiding places for fish, and also remove some substances from the water that are toxic to fish. The author suggests specific plants for freshwater aquariums, provides step-by-step guidelines for aquarium design and planting, and offers advice on plant care. Full-color illustrations throughout.
Reader ReviewsObviously this book is considered for beginners, but if you really are a beginner, it will just lead you in the wrong directions. And if you're experienced, then you'll be shaking your head at some of the stuff written. While there are some nice pictures, even that is organized badly because you have to flip about ten pages over to see the picture of the plant being discussed. The plant profiles section is very short and almost useless, especially the "Similar plants" category, which is very inaccurate. And there's not one mention of Aponogetons, or some other very common aquarium plants. Save your money for something better. I bought this and returned it for a full refung 3 days later. If you're looking for a quality, cheap beginners book, get Scheurmann's Aquarium Plants Manual instead.
