Grade 2-4?When Rosie's ballet class is canceled for the summer, and she's facing the prospect of two long months without dance, she decides to stage her own performance and make it the best ever. Of course, in typical Rosie fashion, everything goes wrong, and she ends up in competition with a neighborhood girl who's also putting on a show. Finally, after many conflicts, the girls decide to combine performances, and Rosie learns that being perfect isn't always possible or desirable. At times disappointed, but ever optimistic, she is ably supported by a cast of family and friends. The plot is fast paced with many humorous moments and the characters are well developed and believable. A glossary will aid readers unfamiliar with the many ballet terms used in the easy-to-read text. Full-page line drawings show Rosie with all her enthusiasm and energy. Fans of Giff's "Kids of the Polk Street School" series (Dell) will find this book to be a good next step.
