Product Description
The first Code of Laws for Contract Bridge was written by hrold Vanderbilt, the father of Contract Bridge, and published by The Whist Club in 1926. These laws were official until the first International Code was released November 1, 1932. The second International Code was released March 31, 1935. No further revision was contemplated for five years. It has been impossible to hold meetings owing to the war. The Portland Club is averse to publishing a new International Code in England during the war, and obviously the French Clubs could not act.
In America the need for new Contract Rubber Bridge and Duplicate Codes has been apparent for some time. Satisfactory arrangements have been made with the Postland Club to publish the present code, to be effective in America until such time, at least a year after the war, when a new International Code may be issued.
This code was released February 19, 1943, to become effective April 1, 1943.
