From Library Journal
This is a basic guide to the basics of carpentry and cabinetry. It assumes little prior knowledge on the reader's part, covering at the outset tool usage, material selection, and general woodworking skills. The residential carpentry section that follows treats framing, roofing, siding, flooring, and interior finish work. The chapters on cabinet-making and installation also touch on finish types and the use of laminates. Concluding chapters introduce special projects involving decks, unusual window installations, and staircases. This is written with exceptional clarity and a strong sense of the proper integration of text and illustration. While it lacks the comprehensive treatment of greater home-improvement manuals, this is still an attractive and cost-effective addition to most public libraries.
