Reader Reviews
The other reviewer (Rob) clearly doesn't understand the concept of a fake book. This book, as he said, has the lyrics, guitar chords and melody line--that's the definition of a "fake book"--fake books are designed for you to improv. They are not supposed to have full orchestrations or harmony lines. The whole term "fake book" comes from the old saying, "If you hum a few bars I can fake it." Most praise bands and worship teams use either this kind of "fake sheet" or they use "charts," which don't even include the melody line--just the lyrics with the chord changes above them. So, having said that, I can confidently assure you that this series of Christian fake books published by Hal Leonard is very good and an excellent value. Each book has a plethora of songs in a wide range of tempo, styles and genres. Definitely worth many times the asking price for the musician who plays by chords or improv. Definitely NOT for people who only know how to play from sheet music. If the latter describes you, steer clear, for you will surely be disappointed. You don't want a fake book. If, however, you fall into the former category, you can't go wrong here!
