Reader Reviews
As advertised this book contains songs that have appeared in movies. Most of the arrangements are quite easy to play or sing. There are twenty-four songs in the collection and some are common standards such as SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW, STAR WARS THEME, THE PINK PANTHER THROUGH THE EYES OF LOVE from ICE CASTLES and SINGING IN THE RAIN. Disney is very well represented with COLORS OF THE WIND, GOD HELP THE OUTCASTS, SO THIS IS LOVE, A WHOLE NEW WORLD and ONCE UPON A DREAM. Broadway musicals made in to films are also part of this book with SEND IN THE CLOWNS and TOMORROW. Rather oddly an easy to play arangement of Led Zeppelin's classic STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN is chosen by virtue of that song being played in the documentary THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME. The rest of the selections are a bit more obscure (at least to me) but the table of contents does helpfully list the movie from which each song is taken. Full lyrics are included with the exception of the one instrumental selection Pachebel's CANON IN D from ORDINARY PEOPLE. There are songs from movies as recent as THE POLAR EXPRESS and THE NOTEBOOK but most pieces are older. A good collection but not a great one.
