These 20th Century Psalms offer a vision of divine immanence and experience of creative uncreated Love with great power and much joy; yet the reading of them is restful, like coming home after hard work and forgetting one's self and all the stress, in the presence of love. The imagery throughout is original and vivid. Marvelous. --
Dom Julian Stead, author of There Shines Forth Christ (poetry), and Saint Benedict, A Rule for BeginnersThese psalms are truly twentieth century songs of praise, for they speak of frustrations we understand, and they express mystical truths in startling contemporary language. a modern cry of David but at the same time a cry that applies to every one of us.

Peter Bien, author of Kazantzakis: Politics of the Spirit, and English translator of Kazantzakis' The Last Temptation of Christ, Saint Francis, and Report to GrecoThese spiritual love songs are amongst the most poignant and gorgeous I have ever read, as moving to me personally as any poem of Merton's or Rilke's. These poems are a rich treasure. --

Product Description
Beautiful prayer poems, covering the full spectrum of spiritual life from despair to exaltation. Like the biblical psalms, they use elemental language accessible to everyone, yet are entirely modern in tone and imagery. They may be read as an aid to prayer and meditation, or enjoyed simply as fine poetry in their own right.
Reader ReviewsEven if you are not comfortable with the Psalms of Sacred Scripture, this work will provide you a quiet period to reflect on creation and our relationship with our Creator. This is one you will definitely want to share with those you love. I gave my first copy away soon after receiving it. The beauty lies in the ease in which the reader is able to slip into the thought rather than struggling with words. Even so, we are given the chance to go deeper upon additional readings, which is a real treat.
