Product Description
The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam has, since its, first publication in 1960, enjoyed a hugh readership. It dispels the ambiguities surrounding the Shari'ah, serving as an essential reference work for the Muslims of this age. It clarifies the Lawful (halal) and why it is lawful, and prohibited (haram) and why it is prohibited, referring to the Qur'an and the Sunnah. It answers many of the questions which Muslims face today. In a very simple way, the book delves into the authentic references in Islamic jurisprudence and fiqh to extract judgements of interest to contemporary Muslims on matters of worship, business dealings, marriage and divorce, food and drink, dress and adornment, patterns of behavior, individual and group relations, family and social ethics, habits and social customs. Referring to authentic texts, it carifies that "Permissibility, is the rule in everything, unless it is otherwise specified in matters that adversely affect individuals or groups." It also stipulates that "Allah is the only authority who has the right to legislate for the lawful and the prohibited."

Reader Reviews
This review is from: The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam (Al-Halal Wal Haram Fil Islam) (Paperback)
This book is very good to explain right from wrong the way God taught us by the example of his last messenger - Muhammad of Arabiyyah. The writer of this book learned Islam at alAzar University in Cairo, Egypt. You will learn that fornication (zina) is haraam (punishable sin). You will learn that alcohol and gambling are abominations of Shaytaan (Satan). You will learn that the woman may wear gold but the man is forbidden to wear the gold; it is haraam for the man to wear the gold because it is like a hot burning coal from the hellfire on is skin. You will learn that if the man cannot keep from the zina, then he must get a wife. With the wife is halaal (permissable), without the wife is sin. The Christian will benefit from reading this book too. Many things that God told to Christians, God also told to Muslims. This book is very good to know about Islam; another good book is by Abdalati and the title is Islam in Focus. After a Muslim reads these two books and reads translation of Quran, then he will know his and her religion. Too many Muslims do not know about Islam.
