Product Description
Meditation is supposed to help people cope with stresses encountered each and every day, but many books on the subject are so complex that they end up being stressors themselves.
Meditation and Relaxation in Plain English avoids this pitfall, presenting techniques that focus on achieving calmness and clarity without a ton of confusing language. Written by a meditation instructor with years of experience, the prose is easy to follow and informed by the author's learned expertise. For anyone who has ever wanted to enjoy pain management, better health, and greater relaxation,
Meditation and Relaxation in Plain English provides potent tools that are easy to learn and easy to enjoy.
Reader ReviewsAs a yoga teacher, I make meditation a priority in my classes. But often, students still find themselves unsure of how to meditate on their own. Sometimes a class isn't enough - and a reference can be a godsend. This book is such a blessing. Bob Sharples has written a book that does spell out "Meditation And Relaxation In Plain English". There is no new age fluff, no religious mumbo jumbo, nothing over your head - this is a simple and straightforward guide that allows the reader to develop the skills necessary for a daily meditation. Sharples shares his thoughts on why a person should meditate, how to start, and how to deepen your mindfulness. Many nice, simple meditations are sprinkled throughout the book. I especially liked the section on "Meditations For Transforming Difficult Situations". These have been very empowering for me as my family has dealt with a loss this year and it has been hard to cope. The information from this section alone is worth the price of the book. It is very powerful stuff. Sharples knows what he is talking about he's been meditation for thirty years and leading stress reduction and healing courses. I would also like to recommend "Meditation For Life" by Martine Batchelor as a companion to this book. Both books should bring light to your pratice.
