Product Description
The classic guide to the Evergreen State, Moon Handbooks: Washington leads you to the Olympic Peninsula's lush rain forests and long sandy beaches, glacier-clad Cascades summits, friendly eastern Washington towns, and the urban delights of Seattle. Author Don Pitcher helps readers hike on Mount St. Helens, whale-watch at Westport, shop at farmers markets, enjoy the best brewpubs and coffeehouses, and experience city nightlife. He also includes details on intriguing and offbeat destinations, such as the graves of Chief Seattle and Jimi Hendrix, and the Bavarian-style village of Leavenworth. "The best guidebook I've found is the well-written Moon Handbooks: Washington." -- The Washington Post
Reader Reviews
You'll find no fancy illustrations in this book - simply good information. The author makes some snarky comments toward a local Christian ministry - which seems pointless - and includes a great deal of information specifically geared toward homosexual travelers. I didn't realize that was a niche market, but evidently it is. Regardless, the book is quite thorough, if opinionated. I prefer the "Hidden Washington" books for pointers on places off the tourist track. Recommended.
