Product Description
Fifteen thousand dollars is a lot of money to take pictures of The Man Who Walked Backwards Down the Na Pali Coast, but Peter MacDonald hasn't worked in seventeen months and the offer is too good to pass up. With a cult of followers listening to a scripture of nonsense, Peter walks into the Valley where Paradise is at stake and the future is in peril. This is a story of discovery and awakening in the last stronghold of the ancient spirits and the small people who wake in the night to do great deeds. The Man might make you laugh, and it might make you cry, but mostly it will make you think about why we spend our time looking backward when our future is in front of us.
Reader ReviewsWe bought this book on recommendation from a funky dude in Hanapepe, Kauai. My wife and I have hiked both the Na Pali coast and the Akalai Swamp numerous times. The visual imagery is amazing and inspiring. You can feel all the senses the author is describing. As cheesy as it sounds, the story is about self discovery and finding true paradise in a modern messed up world. There are excellent parallels between todays societal problems and times-past when the "alii" (kings) determined what was acceptable and what was "kapuu" (of limits). If you liked the "Life of Pi" and "Lord of the Flies" you will love this book!!! Peke and Kini Marie
