From School Library Journal
Grade 5-8–This colorful, attractive introduction to Hinduism focuses on worship in the temple although it also covers major scriptures, festivals, and life events. Each spread treats a different aspect of the religion, accompanied by color photos. The information is generally thorough and complete. Without a glossary, however, it is difficult to remember unfamiliar words from page to page. Sue Penneys
Hinduism (Heinemann Library, 2000) offers a more comprehensive overview.

From Booklist
Gr. 4-6. From the dependable What You Will See Inside series, this introduces the beliefs and practices of the Hindu religion. The book opens with a traditional Sanskrit word of greeting,
Namaste ("I salute God within you"), setting the respectful, inviting tone of the text, which leads readers into a temple. The book explains what can be seen there and discusses Hindu beliefs, worship practices, scriptures, celebrations, blessing ceremonies, and family shrines in homes. A typical double-page spread includes one large color photograph and a few small ones illustrating several paragraphs of clear, concise text. The attractive design and many illustrations make the book accessible even to primary-grade children with good reading skills or adult assistance. An informative introduction.

Reader Reviews
It is not very often that one comes across a book about Hindu religion written by practicing Hindus, who have a complete understanding of Hindu philosophy and traditions. "What You Will See Inside a Hindu Temple" is like a breath of fresh air. Written in a simple and straightforward manner, the book demystifies, what may at times appear as complex, Hindu tradition and thought. It also sets right many, widely held stereotypical beliefs and gross misrepresentations about Hindu religion. Well researched and wholesome, this book is an excellent introduction to the world's oldest religion. A "must have" for school libraries and class rooms where world religion is taught.
