Product Description
The Westminster Shorter Catechism is unrivaled as a concise and faithful summary of the central teachings of Scripture. For decades G. I. Williamsons study manuals on the Shorter Catechism have served as invaluable tools for instructing young and old in the Reformed system of doctrine.
Now newly typeset in one volume, this illustrated manual offers clear exposition of each of the 107 questions in the Shorter Catechism. Each lesson includes Scripture proofs, as well as questions for review or discussion. A valuable aid for group instruction or private study, this volume has been used successfully by homeschoolers, pastors, Sunday school teachers, and parents.
About The Author
G. I. Williamson is a semi-retired minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and editor of Ordained Servant. He has written several books, including The Westminster Confession of Faith: For Study Classes and The Heidelberg Catechism: A Study Guide.
Reader ReviewsIf you are looking for illustrations of what the catechism means and how it condenses spiritual truth, this book will help you. If you are looking for explanations or comments on the catechism and its genesis or its order of questions, it won't help you. It expands on the catechism's teachings and uses it to explain why certain beliefs are right or wrong. It doesn't question the catechism or explain how it flows out of Scripture, which for someone not used to catechisms can be quite frustrating. Also, if you dislike TULIP, better steer clear.
